Locking out distributor on street car
Witryna14 lut 2007 · I'm a firm believer that *all* street cars should have a vacuum advance for maximum cruise/light load efficiency. When I was still running blowthrough carb'd I had the distributor locked out at 37 degrees plus the vacuum advance gave me about 50 degrees under cruise, and I used the BTM to pull the timing out under boost.

Orient the knots of the tie wraps down so that the rotor will go back on. Tighten up the tie wraps so the thing cannot move. WitrynaNow rev your engine up to about 3,500 RPM (to insure that the mechanical weights are fully activated) and watch your timing mark on the harmonic balancer. Now rotate your distributor until the marks line-up at "0" on the crank. When it reads "0", (yet the light is set at 36), you have a total timing of 36 degrees.

With the crank set at 36 BTDC and the distributor in the engine and set on Number One cylinder, move the distributor body until the rotor lines up with Number One spark plug wire on the distributor cap and lock it down.

The 85551 is timing controlled by your 6a box. The vacuum advance is not needed. The box controls it. If you think you must have the vacuum advance, throw out the 6 box and run the MSD ready to run 8360 distributor.
